Chorus has completed half of its work to rev-up Nelson’s broadband network with residents in Stepneyville, Washington Valley, Nelson South, The Brook, Nelson East and The Wood areas among the first to benefit.  The Nelson central telephone exchange area is the first to have new roadside cabinets and fibre optic cable deployed in local streets to bring high speed broadband equipment closer to customers. Chorus upgraded 29 roadside cabinets and laid 26kms of new fibre optic cable, to extend ADSL2+ broadband speeds to 5100 residents across these areas.

Cabinets rev-up broadband for 12,000 Hamilton residents

Chorus has completed half its work to rev-up Hamilton's broadband network with residents in Te Rapa, Frankton and Claudelands among the first to benefit.  New roadside cabinets and fibre optic cable has been deployed in local streets to bring high speed broadband equipment closer to customers.  Chorus has upgraded 73 roadside cabinets and laid 41kms of new fibre optic cable, to extend ADSL2+ broadband speeds to 12,000 residents across these areas.

Chorus has completed more than a third of its work to rev-up Palmerston North's broadband network with residents in Roslyn, Terrace End and Hokowhitu among the first to benefit.  The Palmerston North central telephone exchange area is the first to have new roadside cabinets and fibre optic cable deployed in local streets to bring high speed broadband equipment closer to customers. Chorus upgraded 37 roadside cabinets and laid 24kms of new fibre optic cable, to extend ADSL2+ broadband speeds to 7300 residents across these areas.

Cabinets rev-up broadband for 6200 Whangarei residents

Chorus has almost completed its work to rev-up Whangarei's broadband network with only four high speed broadband cabinets left to install in Tikipunga and Onerahi early next year. New roadside cabinets and fibre optic cable has been deployed in local streets to bring high speed broadband equipment closer to customers. Chorus has upgraded 33 roadside cabinets and laid 20kms of new fibre optic cable, to extend ADSL2+ broadband speeds to 6200 residents across these areas.

Chorus has completed about a quarter of its work to rev-up the North Shore's broadband network with residents in Browns Bay, Murrays Bay, Mairangi Bay and Castor Bay the first to benefit.  New roadside cabinets and fibre optic cable has been deployed in local streets to bring high speed broadband equipment closer to customers. Chorus has upgraded 76 roadside cabinets and laid 58kms of new fibre optic cable, to extend ADSL2+ broadband speeds to 14,700 residents across these areas.

 

Papakura high speed broadband roll-out completed

Chorus has completed the broadband network upgrade in Papakura as part of a nationwide programme to deliver high speed broadband.  In July this year Chorus started installing 60 new roadside cabinets and deploying an additional 36kms of fibre optic cable in Papakura, building on the 120kms already in the local network. The work was part of Telecom's commitment to enable the delivery of broadband connections between 10Mbps and 20 Mbps to 80 per cent of New Zealanders by the end of 2011.
