Layer 1 Access Products

Layer 1 products are the physical layer of a network. Within a telecommunications fixed access network this can include copper and fibre cables and co-location space inside exchanges and cabinets.

Our Layer 1 Access Products

Direct Fibre Access (DFA) Provides access to dark fibre. It connects a service provider's customer to their equipment in the exchange.  CFH/UFB Available
Voluntary Direct Fibre Access (VDFA) This is a variant of DFA available in other LFC areas  Commercial Available
Bandwidth Fibre Access (BFAS)  Allows access to grey fibre. It includes the choice of three data trasfer speeds and an electrical interface. Commercial Available
Jumpering Service Can be ordered with DFAS, BFAS and ICABS to deliver a point to point data solution  Commercial Planned
Trenching Service providers will be able to request a trench dug to deliver a fibre-based service into a building (for non-CFH installs)  Commercial Planned
Unbundled Copper Low Frequency Service (UCLF)  This service will be available with BUBA, WVS, EUBA to provide a voice service. MED STD Planned
Sub Loop Extension Service (SLES) Provides a copper connection between the local exchange and a roadside cabinet.  Commercial Available
Unbundled Copper Local Loop (UCLL)   Is the metalllic path facility (MPF or copper pair) that goes from a customer's home or business to the main distribution frame in the local exchange.   MED STD Available
Sub Loop UCLL Is the metalllic path facility (MPF or copper pair) that goes from a customer's home or business to the distribution frame in the roadside cabinet.  MED STD Available

Sub Loop UCLL - multiple copper tie cables from unbundled cabinet to a service provider's pedestal. Only available with Sub Loop UCLL. Commercial Available

Layer 1 Backhaul products   
Intra Candidate Area Backhaul (ICAB) Allows service providers to extend the fibre access connection to their equipment in another exchange or to connect footprints in two exchanges within the same candidate area. Commercial Available
UCLL & UCLF Backhaul The fibre connection between a service provider's UCLL equipment in an exchange and the nearest available point of interconnect.  MED STD Available now
Sub Loop Backhaul The fibre connection between a service provider's UCLL equipment in a distribution cabinet and the associated local exchange.  MED STD Available
Commercial Backhaul Similar to UCLL Backhaul but available across a greater geographic area and with less restrictions around how the service can be utilised.  Commercial Available
