Chorus Network Specified Product
CNSP Introduction
The CNSP process is used to manage Network Products and Test Equipment deemed to be critical to the Chorus network.
CNSP assesses and analyses product against International, Regional, Local and Chorus requirements and approves network products (for use in the Chorus network) and their suppliers (for service and support) to ensure a product meets criteria for:
- Whole of life performance
- Longevity
- Price and
- Durability
Chorus service partners can have confidence in the purchase and use of CNSP approved products that are fully backed by Chorus Technical Standards and service agreements with the authorised supplier.
What's Included In The CNSP?
The types of products that will fall within the CNSP scope include fibre and copper cables, prefabricated joint chambers, solid and collapsible ducting (including air blown systems), copper connection & termination systems (including customer premise jackpoints) and optical fibre termination and closure systems (including connectorised cables and cords), amongst others.
Chorus network Test & Measurement capability is now included in the CNSP, aligned to the Chorus Technology Plan.
Examples of approved Test Equipment include;
- EXFO Platform Tester FTB-200 used for Optical Layer 1 and Layer 2 service qualification
- Fluke Cable IQ used for broadband network qualification
- EXFO & JDSU Fibre Inspection Tools & Probes
- 3M Dynatel copper cable diagnostics
- Fujikura optical fibre splice equipment and cleavers
This document describes the required performance expectations of Chorus approved optical cables, cords and connectors used in Central Office environments. In many cases the same products are used at Fibre to The Node (FTTN) and other Chorus network edge locations.
Before submitting a CNSP application, please become familiar with the CNSP process requirements as shown above. Thank you.
