Chorus products

For the first time ever, independent phone and Internet service providers have equal access to Telecom's local access network (the local loop) that was previously available exclusively to Telecom. This creates a huge opportunity to develop new and better telecommunication services for all New Zealanders.

With a connection directly to their own customers' lines, these telecommunications service providers (called ‘Access Seekers') can now develop and sell their own broadband or other services. They can make products that their customers demand, offering real choice and competition in the market.

Fair and equal access for everyone

Chorus provides access to the local loop through seven core relevant services, six of which are regulated. Individually, these services are important. When used together they create a huge opportunity for all Access Seekers.

The price for each service has been set by the government after consultation with the industry and is the same for everyone.

Radio Communication (Non-mobile) Co-location
Radio Communication (non-mobile) Co-location lets service providers place their equipment inside Chorus buildings and on Chorus masts and towers for the purpose of radio communication linking to other radio sites or to cover a geographic area.

This enables service providers to deliver a radio communications facility for a specific broadcast service, such as local radio, or as part of an end-to-end service like paging. Power, air conditioning and secure site access for maintenance and service are included in the Chorus offering. Standby power can be provided where available so that sites can operate 24/7

If you would like to request a product change to a relevant service, or to provide input to the product development process, please contact your Chorus Account Manager.
